The wave of AI and big data is driving the rapid development of smart healthcare. WiAdvance, the innovative cloud service provider under Wistron Group, collaborated with the Taiwan Society of Critical Care Medicine (TSCCM) and the Society of Emergency & Critical Care Medicine (SECCM) to host the "BI Operations Management and AI-Assisted Forecasting Multi-Application Competition."
The final competition took place recently during the 2024 SECC Critical Care Joint Annual Conference. After intense evaluations, the championship was awarded to Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital for their project, "Cloud Visualization ICU Real-Time Platform: An Innovative and Scalable Smart Management System." The second and third places were claimed by National Taiwan University Hospital with "BI for ICU: Smart Management of Critical Care Data" and Cheng Hsin General Hospital with "In-Hospital Infection Surveillance for Multi-Drug-Resistant Strains: Introducing PWHT-XGBoost for Machine Learning-based Infection Risk Prediction," respectively. The honorable mention went to National Taiwan University Hospital Hsinchu Branch for "Using ChatGPT to Automate Form Data Collection and Save Time."
In the face of healthcare workforce shortages and an aging population, leveraging AI and data technologies to reduce the pressure on medical staff is crucial. This competition encourages healthcare professionals to use BI and AI to explore innovative applications and unlock more value from medical data.
Jason Lo, Vice President of WiAdvance Technology, stated that AI and data are the key foundations of smart healthcare. We are excited to once again collaborate with the association to engage outstanding care and medical institutions in the competition. It is inspiring to see the teams' innovative efforts in ICU clinical applications, care platforms, medical record summarization, and clinical decision-making. As AI technology continues to evolve, how to fully leverage horizontal and vertical data will be key to enhancing healthcare effectiveness.
In critical care, emergency, and ICU settings, improving diagnostic quality while reducing staff burden is crucial. Big data and machine learning (ML) are key to AI development, and data interoperability is essential for smart healthcare. WiAdvance Technology leverages the FHIR Portal platform to help hospitals integrate medical data, accelerate implementation, and lower technical barriers, paving the way for AI-driven innovations in smart healthcare.
